Your personal information is currently for sale on dozens of websites. These opt-outs are tedious. They’re designed to be. Do them anyway.
Data brokers and people search sites compile personal information from public records, social media, purchase history, and commercial databases, then sell or publish it. Your name, address history, phone numbers, relatives, employer, and more may appear on dozens of these sites — available to anyone who searches for you. Opting out is tedious and must be repeated regularly as new data gets added. But each removal reduces what people can find about you.
Estimated time: 2–4 hours to complete all submissions listed here.
How to Opt Out (General Process)
Most data aggregator opt-outs follow this pattern:
- Search for your name on the site
- Find your listing
- Navigate to the opt-out or removal page
- Submit removal request (sometimes requires email verification)
- Document the submission date — some sites re-list you within months
Search Engine Removal
Google Search Results
Google allows you to request removal of certain personal information from search results.
What Google will remove:
- Home address
- Phone numbers
- Email addresses
- Government-issued IDs
- Medical records
- Financial information
- Login credentials
How to submit a removal request:
- Go to: google.com/search/howsearchworks/how-search-works/removing-information
- Select “Remove information you see in Google Search”
- Follow the guided removal tool
- Specify the type of personal information and the URL where it appears
- Submit — Google reviews within a few days
Limitations: Google can remove search result links but cannot delete content from the source website. To permanently remove information, you must also contact the hosting site directly.
Google Analytics Opt-Out
Google Analytics tracks your behavior across millions of websites. You can opt out with a browser extension.
- Search “Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on” in your browser’s extension store
- Install the official extension from Google
- The add-on prevents Google Analytics JavaScript from reporting your activity to Google
- Works in: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Opera
This only opts you out of Google Analytics tracking — it does not affect Google Search or other Google services.
Bing (Microsoft) Search
- Go to: bing.com/webmaster/tools/contentremoval
- Log in with a Microsoft account
- Submit the URL of the page containing your personal information
- Request removal
For personal safety content removal, Bing has a specific process at bing.com/webmaster → Support → Privacy.
PeopleConnect Group (Most Efficient)
Intelius, TruthFinder, InstantCheckmate, and PeopleFinder are all owned by PeopleConnect, Inc. A single opt-out submission covers all four — this is the most efficient removal in this guide.

Staying Removed
Data brokers and people search sites re-add your information over time from public records and other sources. This is not a one-and-done process.
- Plan to repeat this process every 6–12 months
- Services like DeleteMe (paid) and Kanary (paid) automate ongoing opt-outs across hundreds of sites — worth considering if you want continuous coverage without the manual work
- Keep a log of when you submitted each opt-out request and any confirmation numbers
Start with the PeopleConnect group at suppression.peoplefinderpro.com — one form, four removals. Then work down the list.
